North Country

By: Michael Vasquez

We worked in the same hospital, she a nurse, me a lowly floor-cleaner.  Always the friendly sort, we made friend's, and she agreed to pose for me.  I took her way far north of Toronto to an old abandoned cement mixing sort of structure.  We'd been working for a few hours in a bunker-like cement building, and I was getting so nice stuff.  I ran out of film in my second camera, and as I grabbed the camera I almost dropped the damn thing.  I looked over at my model, and she was all goose-pimply.  So out into the sunshine, and warmth..., we sat, and talked while slowly she warmed up.
