"Arched"

From Michael Siu : "Some models can't seem to look good upside down. They loose expression or look strained in the muscles their necks. Then there is Bella who exudes beauty no matter which way she poses."

Performer, trained dancer and model, Bella Blue is a wonderful person. I wanted to feature her on this so special day, to thank her for her deep kindness, and her beauty she shares with talent and generosity.

Bella Blue lives in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, near Michael Siu, contributing artist. She's modeling since little time after a career as a dancer, what explains her natural grace and her artistic desire to go beyond her limits. The result is splendid as you can see it.

Dear Bella, welcome on board ! We'll follow you.

Artist Statement :

" I just started doing some modeling and am really enjoying being able to use this as another artistic medium. I mainly am looking to just expand my knowledge in this art form and push myself beyond what I think I am capable of.

I am a classically trained dancer which I have found has become very beneficial in modeling. I am open to ideas and projects but do very much appreciate specifics.

I would like to concentrate on being able to "morph." I'd love to be able to pull off different looks and styles... just need to find the right photographers to partner with to be able to achieve this.

My main goal that I would like to come out of this is to one day publish a book with all of my best shots collected over the years. A coffee table book of sorts."

A more personal approach :

" I'm Bella. I was born and raised in New Orleans. I love it here. I think I always will. I'd love to eventually live other places but I think at some point, I'll always come back. I'll die on a streetcar or in Cafe du Monde or something.

From then, I have been branching out and trying so many new things. I rarely say no to an idea. I am up for anything. I try to raise the bar without going to overboard to the point where people don't even want to look at the work.

"The Burlesque Bella IV"

I am a classically trained dancer. Used to be a bunhead. A ballerina. Pointe shoes and all. Leotard. Tights. The whole nine yards.

After having 2 children, the ballerina dream kind of fell the wayside (no complaints there though) and then one day I got a random email from an artistic director of a burlesque troupe here in New Orleans. After some back and forth emails, I auditioned. I've been burlesque dancing for a year and half and I have to say that it most definitely was the missing piece to my puzzle.

Never before has anything in my life allowed me to be so artistically free as well as emotionally, creatively, and its enabled me to accept who/what I am as a woman as well as allowed me to fully accept and embrace my body.

"Bella in Infrared"

Something that most ballerinas never learn to do. If you are local, let me know. You should definitely come and check out a show. If you're not local then you should come to NOLA. And when you do, come see the show.

I want to learn as much as I can from other artists.

And get exposure. I don't want to be famous. But I do want to be remembered for being part of the creation of some great pieces of art whether it be photography, modeling, dancing or otherwise.

I hope you like what you see. If you do, let me know."

Mike Cary Photo Art

Mike Cary is following this site. I always thank our followers ("our" because Univers d'Artistes" is a collective art site !). So I've visited his blog to leave him a kind comment and, cherries on the cake, I've discovered a creative and talented photographer... Wow !... So here he is, linked and followed, of course.

Over the past few years I've come to realize that for me photography is a journey without a destination and I find that to be a wonderfully freeing realization.

Think about it if only for a few seconds what it means to take a turn down that un-marked road of discovery or to try something new or different without having worry about arriving at a pre-determined place at the pre-determined time and the creative freedom it gives you.

What best describes the style of my Nude work ? I'd have to say traveling without a map. By this I mean I don't follow any particular genre but instead barrow a little from each as well as other types of photography including high fashion.

You see, I consider myself a recorder of beauty and art rather then a creator of either.

In saying this I mean most of my photographs start out as either very simple or vague ideas, that really only come to fruition when I'm actually shooting.

Or just as often are the results of a little spur of the moment inspiration."

Welcome RJ Berry

" One of the reasons to pose nude for me is that sometimes there is a story waiting to be created. Anyone wanting to create their own story with me is more than welcome. My door is always open to those who are dedicated to the freedom of making art." RJ Berry

by Joseph Crachiola

My dear RJ,

Today I'm so happy to be French...

Even if France is a small mouse which believes she's an elephant, defending the human rights like if they were her own creation (sic !). Even if we have the smallest president on earth... Never mind. Yes, today I'm glad to be French :

Because in France : NUDITY IS ART.

In France, nobody will never criticize you if you pose nude. You're an artist and that's it. Without you, no drawings, no paintings, no Manet, Degas, Toulouse Lautrec, Rodin or Lucien Clergue. To resume : no art.

In France, we are used to see nudity everywhere, on all the screens, inside, outside, in the churchs, the stations, the city-halls and the schools.

And you know what ? A life without nudity looks us strange, as if something about humanity was forgotten.

We born nude, we die nude,
and our body is the temple of our soul.

To end, I'll add this : I often tell to my young son to buy Playboy instead of watching one of these awful TV soaps where dead bodies are exposed, opened, bloody, without head, ripped, dissected, raped by insane serial directors.
So, my dear RJ, never forget that you make a wonderful and inspiring work. You're an ode to the life. You're the reason we have been made for. Keep strong against these false and inhibited moralistic people who should go and consult a psychiatrist as soon as possible. Don't let the sun go down on your faith. We need you.

Welcome Marco Arbani

You'll find Marco Arbani at his blog, deviantART, Flickr, Carbonmade.

"Painted with shadows" - Model Béatrice

"Same session of the next one, but this is a more emotive portrait in my opinion… The shot is how it comes out from the camera, only converted it in bw."

"Sinuosity"
Model Béatrice

He's young, passionate, devoted, talented, inspired (what else ?...)

At 23, imagine !, he already belongs all the needed qualities to become quickly a renowned and prolific photographer.

For my part, I'm his new fan, with an endless pleasure, and I'll follow him like his own shadow. I absolutely want to see where his deep and communicative commitment will bring his evolving style.

Keep his name in your mind, because you'll hear about him in a next future, as sure as two and two make four.

Nice to welcome you on board Marco !

"Vanishing"
Model Béatrice

"It has been a long time since I last met her… I miss her and the funny shootings we had.
This shot is taken from the last session before I left my city for Milan ; initially I didn't like this, but now I think her expression and her eyes are incredible."

" I'm Marco Arbani, 23 years old, I'm a student of graphic design at the IED in Milan.

I studied computer science but I knew that my passion and what I wanted to do was graphic design and photography, I wish these passions will be my work in future…

The passion for photography grew at the age of 16, I started taking shots with a digital camera with 1Mpixel only, very basic. I soon realized that I wanted more ; more quality and more control of my shots… I started to take pictures of my friends, of landscapes during holidays, always trying to find my style and to improve my techniques.

"Soul projection"
Model Claudia

The reflex changed my vision of photography, I felt I was losing something, I discovered a world hidden before.
I could control everything and the shot came out exactly as I imagined it in my mind.

After that I dedicated my free time to photography, always experimenting new light settings and digital postproduction. Actually I'm trying to realize my ideas concentrating myself particularly in shootings with models and portraits."

"Looking Back"
Model Claudia

"I like this very much, for the dark mood, for her expression. This is one of the first shots with Claudia.
Taken in one of the places I like most, an abandoned and partially ruined country house."
