The passion of Rudi Amedeus

A new member of UdA

I feel fortunate that my subjects embrace working with me, trust me, invite me into their intimate universe in an open and honest way sharing their soul. I relish every moment of this photographer-subject relationship and cherish the bond that is created with the people I photograph.

It is easy to have new Facebook friends but a little less to build a true relation. From like to love to comments to shares, Rudi and I became closer :
- My dear Master, I have found all what I need to write a beautiful article !
- You are the Master Chris.
I blushed...

I appreciate his work, of course, and also the man behind the camera.Rudi Amedeus is a multi-talented photographer in all genres. B&W addicted, I don't remember one photograph I don't tag :
- I love all, my friend !
And I imagine his smile.

Now, showtime ! Let's hear Master Rudi Amedeus :

I fell in love with photography at age 8 when I received an all plastic Diane camera and few rolls of 120 film. Developing film and printing images was expensive for a boy of little means and the passion was put on hold for the pursuit of music, drawing, painting and technical hobbies.

Fully engulfed in music composition and the development of computer controlled electronic synthesizers in my early twenties, photography then was a means to document my technology projects. In the mid 80's I developed a hybrid analog/digital camera and was back at the creative and technology side of this art developing hardware and software in a exponentially expanding technololy field. This chain of events resulted in my life-long pursuit of beauty and convergence of art and technology in both digital music and imaging technologies.

I capture landscapes, cityscapes, bodyscapes with the same ease and passion as the intimate portrait.

Love struck merciless when I discovered my true passion photographing people with all the empathy a life has instilled in me. I've never looked back since then I use this expressive medium in digital and film in a variety of formats as my way to observe the world through a viewfinder as a means to tell a story. Photography has provided me with opportunities to meet new people, experience different cultures worldwide and explore my surroundings with an open mind.

I feel fortunate that my subjects embrace working with me, trust me, invite me into their intimate universe in an open and honest way sharing their soul. I relish every moment of this photographer-subject relationship and cherish the bond that is created with the people I photograph.

My artistic vision always aims to document each subject's beauty, complexity, uniqueness and intimacy, creating images saturated with raw emotion.

Photography for me is a way of living life through a viewfinder or even an old-fashioned wooden camera ground-glas, capturing and documenting how I see the world around me regardless of subject. I prefer not to segment myself, I truly believe an artist should be at home in all the aspects of the chosen craft and hone the required transferable skills. I capture landscapes, cityscapes, bodyscapes with the same ease and passion as the intimate portrait. I'm passionate being behind the camera and I'm equally passionate turning the raw images into the impression of the moment using darkroom processes. I craft and mold the image till I re-live the memory of seeing, connecting, feeling, sharing.

I often strive for an uncluttered view in my images and isolate the subject from distracting backgrounds to ease the eye of the viewer into the story. The majority of my work aims to document each subject's beauty, complexity, uniqueness, shock-value and intimacy, creating images saturated with emotion and wonder.

As for my work with people, I love to explore the body and I'm fascinated with faces and how emotion is communicated in the often complex photographer/sitter-model relationship, always exploring emotion, angles, space, reflection, light, tonality, heart and soul.

" Full of talent, outstanding work, impressive gallery, awesome, unbelievable, I'm totally impressed, great stuff, I'm speachless, really stunning and breathtaking photos, powerful work, stunning, very unique style, fabulous gallery, exceptional..."

The comments about the work of Stefan Gesell are extatic and unanimous. And they're right.

From Munich, Germany, woldwide renowned and multi-awarded photographer at various international photographic competitions, Stefan Gesell composes his pictures like a Director : scripts, decorations, locations, lights, casting, make-up, poses, post-processing, nothing seems to be left to chance. I tell "seem" because we'll know more about his outstanding creativity after his interview.

To make short, I've too many (french) words in my mind, must I tell you how much I'm happy to feature him ? No, isn't it ?... So, let's him talk. And enjoy the work of this fantastic artist !

An extract of his short interview with Harald Heim for The Plugin Site :
" German photographer Stefan Gesell creates photos that have a very special touch.

He usually does portraits and full size photos of half dressed or nude women that convey a very dark and dramatic mood.

Some of his images contain horror elements like screaming mouths, gas masks and decayed rooms while others have a more romantic touch that is emphasized with flower bouquets, glowing skin and gleams of light."

Harald Heim : Can you please tell us something about yourself ?

I was born in 1959 in Markschorgast near Kulmbach, Germany, and visited the "Gymnasium." In 1977, I passed the entrance exam of the police. Since 2003, I have dedicated myself to photography.

Harald Heim : What do you think makes your photos different from those of other photographers ?

I think it is the different approach and stage-managing that makes my pictures look different.

For me the impact of my images is of high importance.
I want to make them memorable to the viewer.

That's why I experiment a lot with light and the resulting mood.

Harald Heim : How do you get ideas for new photos ?

My ideas come to me while sleeping, so to speak. I dream of them and try to translate the memory of the dream into photos.

"Watching..."

From fine art TV :
" His creations are unsettling, sometimes violent, he draws from imaginations of the masters of comics who so often found a life much more real via the cinema.

Stefan transforms his model, whether it is a man or a woman. He pushes them so that they have to be expressive in their glances, in the distorsions of their bodies. The movement has importance, and it is also the force of his photography."

Breakfast at Tiffany with Alexey Aloisov

Member since 2007

Alexey Aloisov is 54 years old and lives in Saint Petersburg, Russia. And that's it, dear reader ! His talent is as amazing as his discretion about himself. I contacted him for an interview. He answered me :
- Well, you may write about me, if you already know what you can say about me.
I told him :
- Fabulous ! But I really need to know more about you... I didn't find any bio ?... Even in russian. Do you have one, even a short one ?
End of the story... I'm still waiting but I don't lose hope.

" It has been rumored that the film's on-location opening sequence, in which Holly gazes into a Tiffany’s display window, was extremely difficult for director Blake Edwards to film. Although it was simple in concept, crowd control, Hepburn's dislike for pastries, and an accident that nearly resulted in the electrocution of a crew member are all said to have made capturing the scene a challenge. However, Edwards, in an interview given for the 45th anniversary DVD, said that the sequence was captured rather quickly due to the good fortune of an unexpected traffic lull despite the location in the heart of Manhattan."
