GW Burns, his BW photographs

"To all the fantastic models I have had the honor of working with: you are the true stars, I am only the night reflecting your splendor."

Working mainly in color, see there, I've choosen for the first time his BW photographs which show us another facet less "fantasy"of my dear and always happy GW Burns.

"The imagery that I project comes from my heart, inspired by my dreams. It can be said that a little part of me is captured within each of my pictures. Thus a GW Burns image is in essence a landscape of moods, emotions, and feelings that are my gifts to you."

An example of his impressive work in color

Alone Together - A Portrait of the Loneliness

By Carolyn Lacasse, model and artist

There are many forms of solitude, desired or not, well accepted or not, momentary or endless. There are moreover several reasons to feel or to be alone during a lifetime.

Having a moment alone to recharge,

to take stock of our life.

Ending up alone and having

to draw the strenght within ourselves.

Standing alone, strong and proud, in front of the others.

Being the pillar of our own life.

to nourish our most profound secrets, our greatest dreams.

Waiting,

the heart filled with hope of no longer being alone.

By having no one with us,

time may seem very long sometimes too.

Being so lonely and fragile,

fearing that emptiness in us and around will engulf us.

Sometimes feeling forsaken, even when we are

surrounded by sincere and unwavering love.

But being alone does not always mean being lonely.

We can wish for solitude, just for a moment, so we can

freely enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

«Caressing Breeze»
by Pierre Joosten

We are billions of «ones», by choice or not, some having tamed this reality and even having found happiness through it, but although we can sometimes feel lonely, we are never quite alone. The feeling of loneliness is only a state of mind, a perception wich can be (not without difficulty sometimes, I have to admit) changed according to our own will. But being «alone» is one of the things that unite us all. So let's take care to respect the isolation of others, without abandoning them however to their whole solitude.

To take stock of our life

To draw the strenght within ourselves

Being the pillar of our own life

To nourish our most profound secrets, our greatest dreams

The heart filled with hope of no longer being alone

Time may seem very long sometimes too

Fearing that emptiness in us and around will engulf us

Surrounded by sincere and unwavering love

Freely enjoy the simple pleasures of life

Let's be ALONE TOGETHER

Carlos Lozzano, a spontaneous street photographer

Carlos Lozanno touched my heart with this wonderful photograph :

Of course, I couldn't miss such a gifted artist. Passionate B/W street photographer, Carlos Lozzano has the kindness to reveal us his successful improvisation :

I am interested mainly in street photography because of everything that comes with it is improvisation and making of technical decisions must be very fast. I like that. I never use tripod. I do not have a precise goal or a preconceived idea before each shot.

How much time does he wait his treasure ? Without goal nor idea nor thoughts, the spontaneous captures of Carlos Lozzano are always pieces of art and a testimony on our time and its solitude in a virtual Present full of unknown "friends". Carlos shoots the truth with a spontaneity that comes from his big heart and a compassive and sure eye.

Carlos, I'm honored to know you and I deeply thank you for your humanity and your confidence. This mag is yours.

Photography has become my mode of communication and my vision of the reality.

I am a practically self-taught photographer. My photographic experience begins at the end of the eighties. In those days, did a black and white photography and development workshop. However, I continued my artistic activity in subsequent years focused on the world of drawing and painting. At the beginning of this decade I returned to photography, and this time, with digital photography. Now it occupies all my time.

The only portrait he sent me. I want more !

I am interested mainly in street photography because of everything that comes with it is improvisation and making of technical decisions must be very fast. I like that. I never use tripod. I do not have a precise goal or a preconceived idea before each shot.

However, there is a unit, not chosen, in my photographic style. In a natural and spontaneous way, all my work focuses on the sensation that the human being transmits, in its solitude, in the world that surrounds it.

Nor do I have technical reasons that motivate me to have opted for black and white. It simply transmits me more authenticity. It is a personal choice, without more.

All I can or know transmit, instead of using the word, is with a photograph. Photography has become my mode of communication and my vision of the reality.

Ephemeral Faces / Visages éphémères

The BUZZZ around GUZZZ

Photography on canvas
30 X 45 cm

I had the chance to work with GUZZZ, a fantastic artist, a few years ago. I was a model, he was a painter and a photographer, and he had this great bodypainting project that he wanted me to be part of.

Gradually, through the brush strokes, the clicks of his camera, his antics, my laughs, and our growing complicity, images of a moving beauty took shape.

Of this artistic meeting were not only born true masterpieces of photography, but also a great friendship between this talented artist and me. GUZZZ, thank you for your generosity. I admire your talent, your vision, your sensitivity and your imagination, wich make you a painter-photographer who stands out and inspires.

Over time, GUZZZ's project has grown and the interest of the public has become exponential. His works have been seen in Cannes, in Florence, and in Paris at the famous Salon des Beaux-Arts of the Carrousel du Louvre. They have also been exhibited in Montreal and are in permanent exhibition at Toronto's Kipling Gallery.

My work is the result of a unique process, bringing together various mediums, the body as a moving canvas, taking successively different forms. The capture of each moment becomes a work of art in itself.

I think I have always been an artist. A sensitive being. I liked getting lost in my thoughts while looking at the infinitesimal or at the infinitely big. When I was young, I drew constantly; meanders, brightly coloured furrows...

Over the years, I discovered inspiration. I immersed myself with what surrounded me or with what was in me to express an emotion, to create.

I met photography in my early adulthood and I have never stopped exploring since then.

I liked to be surprised by the unprecedented, the unexpected. My first shots: cement or asphalt cracks, reflections of the sky in a puddle. I was always looking for abstraction, for the ephemeral, for THE moment. Soon enough, I explored the artistic nude. The body. This fascninating subject, always in perpetual movement and so different from one person to another...

It is during a long journey in Europe that my taste for arts in all its forms asserted itself. Music, poetry, dance, visual arts, achitecture... As soon as I came back home, I began studying Visual Arts at the University of Quebec in Montreal. Spending every day in a world of creation and creators was one of the beautiful moments of my life.

It has been four years now that I returned to a life of pure creation, having dedicaded a few decades to meet the needs for my family. I am inspired by the artistic paths of Les Automatistes and the Expressionists, as well as the diverse cultures around the world.

As for my approach, it is inspired by the human's concern for his image.

Will be presented at the Merlino Gallery in Florence, from April 16th to 30th 2018

All material and techniques are allowed to achieve my goals: gouache, acrylic, clay, sand, paper, photography, collage, pencil, digital techniques, painting on the body, etc. Successively, the canvas takes several forms, according to the stage of creation, and the subject is called to move, to be seen, and better still, to be moved. More than a human body stripped of its artifices, the canvas has a soul, a past, a future, and it brings us to be directly in touch with its present.

The experience thus takes a form that I shall call «face», such as a look on oneself, a facet of a reflection of oneself shaped in the present moment. The ephemerality of the moment is an instant of sublime liberty, of letting go.

Exhibited at the gallery Le Livart in Montreal, November 2017

This new character, so unique, is sometimes sad, dark and mysterious, sometimes luminous, joyful and resplendent. The following moment, all of this becomes a thing of the past, leaving only an imprint on the film of the camera.

It is only by working as a duo that the image can be created. Each performance is a symbiosis between the artist and the subject.

I have always favored shapes, colors and textures. However, my approach has never stopped evolving.

The message of creative freedom of the beginning gradually takes on a more targeted and asserted vocation, always around the relationship of the human with the image he projects, but also showing the effect of these behaviors on the environment. I tend to want to present a message of urgency that is not necessarily alarmist, but rather realistic.
