Ray Sorveno: The Master of Beauty

It is with an absolute delight that I have been admiring the photos and paintings of this incredible multitalented artist: Ray Sorveno.

Born in Milan, this kind and joyful man with such good looks definitely has everything for him: former Latin dancer, worked as an illustrator as well as an art director in the film industry, and now an hyperrealist painter recognized worldwide and exhibiting in many galleries, he also enjoys creating stunningly beautiful photos "just for fun".

However, Ray does not take himself and life too seriously. His sense of humor and his great humility are certainly the key to the happiness and success of this artist of great value.

I'm not interested in my ego; I'm only interested in my echo.

Painter on a regular basis and photographer for pleasure, it is with passion and heart that he creates atmospheres where emanates a unique energy and where are beautifully staged sumptuous women.

Through the pleasure of exploring and creating, Ray presents sensuality in all its subtlety and refinement, amalgamating fashion, editorial and glamour as well, which he exploits so amazingly well.

Glamour, in my understanding, is generally a shot where the subject is an amateur of professional model and the purpose of the picture is to make a woman just look beautiful. Perhaps with stylish clothes, but the photo, in my opinion, is about the model, the clothes being secondary.

Cinema, worldliness, contemporary haute couture, as well as, at the opposite, popular culture and the ordinary, are for Ray Sorveno of a great poetry that has and will always inspire him.

He enjoys manipulating deliberately the reality, by integrating his own vision, his own style. He likes to exaggerate artificial features, to play with the models' personalities and the different elements of the set, therefore letting the observer use his imagination to tell his own story while looking at the image.

MASKS AND ANGELS

Having grown up in a family of artists, he started drawing and painting at a very young age. Later, he attended the Academy of Graphics and Design in Munich, and then, he studied art in San Francisco. From there, he worked as an illustrator for several years, as well as an art director in many film companies.

His large-scale paintings, just like his magnificent photographs, are a tribute to the fascination for feminity, not by focusing only on the sensuality of the female body, but rather by integrating it to his images in a more abstract way and with such class.

Ray Sorveno lives and works in his studios in Munich and Milan, and his works are part of permanent exhibitions in many galleries. Moreover, we now count many of his works among public and private collections.

Ray is an amazing human being and his works denounce it constantly. May his artistic exploration never slow down, incessantly resulting into the true masterpieces he is known for.
