Richard Biardeau, Photograper, drawer, painter and philosopher

Member since 2011

Eclectic, humoristic, authentic, full of a delicious and warm kindness. Drawer, painter and philosopher...Crazy, poetic, symbolistic, the universe of Richard Biardeau is full of surprises ! And laughs. I love his (self) dérision. As much as the message he gives us.Fan of Max Sauco and Anton Solomoukha, there is no hazard, Richard has a vision I deeply like.

You know me, I won't talk about his ways to do. I saw and I love. It's the famous wow! factor. But if I could, I would d say that Richard makes me proud to have called this site "Univers d'Artistes". With him, we enter again in another dimension. The fourth or the sixth ? Who knows ? Anyway, a strange one full of truth.

Richard, merci de tout cœur pour votre confiance.

His bio :

When I was a little child I used to spend all my time drawing , growing up in an artistic environment. When I was 20, I (stupidly) used to consider photographs like potential documents for my drawings.

A few time after in an art-school, I made some friends. A lot of them were photographers and introduced me to famous artists I never saw : Les Krims, Duane Michael, Sandy Glosgun, Jan Saudek, Helmut Newton. Then came Max Sauco, I love his work !, Anton Solomoukha. Also Frédéric Fontenoy, Gilles Berquet, Mirka Lugosi who I met. And more (never ending list !)

An evening, dining with my best friend, I asked his girl friend to pose for me. I just thought I had to use my pencils and paper, but he told me :

If she agrees, it's the good occasion to teach you photography.

And he initiated me to the art of argentic photography. As early as I began to learn photography, I had the privilege to work with a model !

Later someone gave me the Minolta SRT 100B (which belonged to his dad). I bought my labotory, and so on, this were 30 years ago ! Now I use numeric, computers and photoshop. I've just offered myself a Leica X1.

Today, I can't consider my life without my camera and my models !

His Images and words. I love that. It's my writer's dream.

" I really love the naked human form, in all shapes and sizes, I think it looks amazing in photography and love playing around with weird poses to create odd shapes, just as much as simple figure nudes."

Ulorin Vex makes part of this renowned models who are an endless source of inspiration, such as Iris Dassault, Dollybeck or Muse.

We can feel all her passion in her poses :

" I put a lot of effort into my work and trying to be original".

And she succeeds. Her inexhaustible creativity allied to her natural grace bring us always the very best.Working with the greatest photographers, Ulorin Vex is a very experienced Art-model featured on many magazine covers, and, last but not least, a skilled illustrator when her busy planning permits it.

by Michael Helms

My name is Christiane (aka Ulorin Vex), a 23 year old model currently based in the South West of England.

Reliable, enthusiastic, experienced red-headed chameleon. I love what I do, everything from natural art nudes to runway to urban fashion and crazy colourful haute couture. I am especially fond of art nude work on location or creating unusual shapes with studio work.

From Incubus' Choice :
" Fetish model with a very sweet sensuousness, glamor and tender eye that knows to be tougher sometimes, as if vector of an inner strength not easily taken in, and who affects mischievous and irritable pouts by a mere movement of the lips."

"Deserted"

I'm inspired by anything a bit unusual, creative, avant garde, strong colours, makeup and styling.

I also love creating artistic nude images, especially those that explore human form and the landscape, but also enjoy the challenge of studio work !

I put a lot of effort into my work and trying to be original. I am creative and full of my own ideas, but I can also take direction if that is what you prefer.

Ulorin Vex is an illustrator under the name of Malady Charlotina :

"Plague Rats"

As well as modeling, I am also an illustrator under the name 'Malady Charlotina'.

I'm a big fan of body modification and alternative subculture and a lot of my work features pretty girls and/or boys with horns, wings and tattoos, though I also love drawings dragons and other creatures.

I currently keep a variety of pet frogs, tarantulas and a hibernating newt. Unfortunately my arachnid, amphibian and reptile wish list is much bigger than my flat can accommodate !

Ulorin Vex is an English alternative model from England.

She graduated from the University of Durham in 2004 with a BSc (hons) in Biology, and began her career as an alternative model shortly after, modeling collections for numerous latex clothing designers and appearing on stage at events such as the Skin Two Rubber Ball.

While still one of the more popular fetish models, she has since become equally well known for her non-fetish modelling work, appearing in style editorials for Dazed and Confused and promotional images for global hair brand Tigi, including the cover of award-winning trade magazine Creative Head.

Welcome Gerhardt Thompson

Gerhardt Thompson is a great and renowned photographer. I knew his exceptional work since a long time but I didn't dare to approach him for an introduction. He did it for me.

And, despite his fame, he's a very kind artist and an enthusiastic and friendly man.
I'm deeply proud and honoured to welcome him.

" I was born in Australia and have lived most of my life along the east coast of New South Wales. Australia is an outdoor lifestyle that you just have to indulge. What else can you do ! To this regard I do not photograph in a studio. Well it is not simply that it has been done so many times or in so many ways before, it is more that it could have been taken anywhere in the world.

The ever changing and unique Australian landscape is the perfect backdrop for a Fine Art Nude photographic session whether it is on a beach, a river bank, rocky outcrops or a bush land setting.

"Lured by the Sea"

The nude in my opinion is so beautiful, particularly in the natural environment and many of the curves and lines of the model are found and repeated in nature.

It is the harmony and/or often the contrast of the two I try to find and blend into one. I am very conscious of the textures and it is very evident in my work… some have called it my trademark and that which makes my work somewhat unique.

The end result is something quite unique that cannot be recreated elsewhere. Even the light is different. The intensity of the Australian sun is second to nowhere and creates its own special magic that while absolutely beautiful, is also a challenge to capture and harness in this type of photography. Many try but very few successfully harness and capture the beauty it provides.

"Reflections in a Mirror"
From the series "ArchiTexture"

I almost exclusively shoot outdoors. While I have done some studio work, I find very little to challenge me when I can control every aspect of the light and mood. I also find it difficult to create something truly unique in a studio. Most of the time no matter how good it may be it always ends up similar to so many other studio nudes.

I am Australian and it is also where I live, I have spent my life in the outdoors, surfing, bush walking, sporting activities, I just love being outdoors… so I suppose it was almost a natural decision for me to go outdoors with the camera.

I also enjoy exploring the natural sunlight, harnessing its nuances and working with the constant intricate changes which I have no control over but have to work with. To me it is more of a challenge trying to harness this often hostile yet beautiful light, particularly with nudes.

My website provides links to my solo exhibit here in Sydney, three International Exhibits where my work is featured and sold, over 50 joint exhibits and five European based Exposes.

I have been interviewed by La Repubblica (Italy), Jade Magazine, (UK), FHM Spain, The New Nude Magazine by Andrew Kaiser, MeinBerlin.de, Incubus Choice, The Art of Love, and Duclerk, my work has been also been published by each of them. I have also been published in the poetry journals The Sow's Ear Review and The Blue Fifth Review both based in the USA.

I have two books available for purchase, Gerhardt - The Book and The Sun Drenched Nude.

I am a photographic judge at photokonkurs and currently my photography hangs on walls around the world."

"Bentable"

From Braunschweig (Germany), Marc Hoppe is specialized in fine art nude, acrobatic nudes and portraits. And as you see it, "acrobatic" is not just an expression. Fan of Andreas H. Bitesnich, André Brito, Thorsten Jankowski from who he learnt a lot and Igor Amelkovich, here are some of many Photographers who inspire him, Marc Hoppe is fascinated by the feminine shapes :
" Before I start shooting a model, I try to analyze the body and the muscle structure."

A thing I'm sure, Marc doesn't "try", he succeeds ! Take a little of your precious time to admire his work. You'll be as impressed than me by the power of his imaginative and so well composed artworks.

By himself :

The fascination on photography began in 2004 when I started shooting architecture and landscapes. In the early 2008 I met Thorsten Jankowski and Michael Papendieck, two fine art photographers wich are also based in Braunschweig, Germany.

They gave me the inspiration to change the focus from architecture photography to the “sculptural nudes” and “transforming bodies” photography.

Before I start shooting a model, I try to analyze the body and the muscle structure. Then I try to use minimal light setup so that the focus is only on the form and the structures of the muscles and bones. I also get inspirations from architects like Tandao Ando, Santiago Calatrava, Phillipe Starck and use this in my photoworks.
